Let's talk about confidence

It’s elusive. It’s hard. It’s personal. When we talk to women about confidence, we start first with breaking down what confidence is.

Self-Confidence + Self-Esteem=CONFIDENCE

Many use these two terms in the same way, but they actually are two different things, although interrelated. Self-confidence is the outward-facing component of confidence. It’s what you show to others and what others see in you. Self-esteem, on the other hand, is focused inwards. What is unique about self-esteem is that not everyone necessarily sees it because it’s how you feel about yourself.

Self-confidence often grows by attaining new skills, gaining knowledge and learning new things that help you grow. Self-esteem though, is how well you know, accept and love yourself, including your strengths and weaknesses.

Throughout our careers, we have seen many women (and men!) solely rely on their self-confidence for their happiness or success. The problem with that is - it is self-esteem that is the foundation and with any faulty foundation, the house will fall. In other words, high self-confidence with low-self esteem is a house built on shaky roots. People eventually see through high self-confidence, but low self-esteem.

We want you to have both. We want you to be able to have both to ultimately thrive to be your best and most confident self. Over the coming month we will be sharing tips and strategies to build your confidence.

We would love to hear from you - what steps do you take to build your confidence?
